A downloadable base

This base project was something I started on ages ago and forgot to ever actually list! But I think it still holds up so I'll finally be putting it here. There may be small flaws as I can't check every possible combination of traits but there shouldn't be anything that takes more than a tiny adjustment to

REQUIREMENTS:

To use this base you will need an image editting software that uses layers, layer folders, the ability to clip/mask layers to other layers, and preferably the ability to have a 'multiply' layer. If your software can open the .psd it will likely meet these requirements. The image itself is 2060x3940 so I recommend exporting your finished image at %50 size or less for web posting.

HOW TO USE:

TLDR; Turn off the folders for things you don't want to use and color on the layers labeled Color.

In Depth;

 Each piece that has color is broken up into a lineart layer, a 'multiply' base shading layer, and a color layer. This makes the base easier to color and easier to customize if you wish to turn off only the shading or to change the lineart. This also means the base has a lot of layers. I've done my best to label everything. Each object has a named folder and is grouped together with its counterparts (ex: the layers for the Kitty ear are in a folder called Kitty in the Ear folder)

The shading is already done for you on each piece but can be turned off if you want to do your own by hiding the layer. If you lock the opacity of the layer (an icon in most programs that looks like a padlock on top of a checkerboard) you can fill the shading in with a different color without changing its shape. Each shading layer is masked to the color layer below it, meaning you will not be able to draw shadows outside the confines of the color layer unless you turn clipping off.

The Color layer is where you can do all your coloring. If you have detailed markings to add that need to be on their own layer, add them in a layer above the color layer then clip/mask them. This will keep them inside the color layer as well as let the shading layer continue to do its job. This is how I used the repeating pattern  on the dress of my colored example.
